Frequently asked questions
What is MCP (Model Context Protocol)?
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is a standardized, secure way for AI assistants — powered by Large Language Models — to request information from and take actions in external systems like Vista Social. Think of it as a shared language that lets your AI ask your tools for context (e.g., "Show me last week's top posts") and perform tasks on your behalf (e.g., "Schedule tomorrow's launch post") without you ever opening a dashboard.
What are some examples of things I could do with it?
Here are real prompts you can run against the Vista Social MCP Server:
"What social profiles do I have connected?"
"List posts published in the last 30 days and order by most impressions."
"Schedule a post to my Facebook page and Instagram profile for tomorrow at 9am."
"How are my social posts performing this month vs. last month?"
"Email a copy of my latest performance report to my client."
"Draft friendly replies to my unanswered DMs from the last 48 hours."
"Create 3 content ideas per client for next week across Instagram and TikTok."
Who is this for?
Anyone using an MCP-compatible AI client like Claude Desktop, Cursor, ChatGPT (custom connectors), Gemini, Windsurf, or Zed. Instead of logging into Vista Social to click around, you can simply ask your AI to do it for you.
Which AI clients work with it?
Anything that supports MCP. Today that includes Claude Desktop, Cursor, ChatGPT (custom connectors), Gemini, Windsurf, and Zed, with more added by the MCP ecosystem every month.
Does MCP cost extra?
No. The Vista Social MCP server is included in every paid Vista Social plan at no extra cost during beta.
What can the AI see and do?
Exactly what you can. The MCP connection is authenticated and scoped to your Vista Social account and your role. If you can't see a profile in Vista Social, neither can your AI.
Can I limit what the AI can do?
Yes. Access follows your Vista Social role permissions. You can also disconnect the MCP token at any time from Settings → Integrations, which revokes every AI client instantly.
Is my data stored by the AI?
Vista Social only transmits the data your AI explicitly requests. Whether your AI client caches or stores that data is governed by the AI client's own privacy policy (Claude, Cursor, ChatGPT, etc.).
Does it work with white-label?
Yes. White-label customers can expose the Vista Social MCP server to their own end clients, fully branded under their domain.
How do I get started?
In your Vista Social dashboard, go to Settings → Account Settings → Integrations and copy your MCP connect link. Paste that link into your AI client as a custom MCP connector, and you're live. Once connected, just ask your AI what you want — no code required.
Do I have to be a developer to use this?
Not at all. If you can copy and paste a link, you can use Vista Social MCP. Every AI client that supports MCP has a simple "Add a custom connector" or "Add MCP server" setting where you paste the URL.
